A Hewlett-Packard netbook with Intel's upcoming Atom N455 processor is available for pre-order on a German Web site ahead of the chip's official launch.
Amazon.de is listing a Hewlett-Packard Mini 210 netbook with Intel's N455 chip running at 1.66GHz.
The N455 is the likely successor to the N450, which was introduced in December and also runs at 1.66GHz. The N455 is expected to support DDR3 memory, an upgrade over the DDR2 memory in most netbooks today.
The DDR3 processors should allow data to be exchanged faster between the memory and CPU, translating to better overall system performance.
The netbook is priced at €349 (US$464). It comes with Windows 7 Starter edition, 1GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. The Amazon listing was spotted by the German Web site nDevil.
Intel CEO Paul Otellini has said the company is committed to improving the performance of the Atom processor. He said Intel would release a dual-core version of the chip this quarter, though it hasn't confirmed yet whether it will be for netbooks or desktops.
